Udupi: Admar Mutt Junior Seer Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji ascended the Sarvajna Peetha at Sri Krishna Mutt in the early hours of Saturday, January 18.
The Paryaya celebrations began with the seer taking a holy dip at the ‘Danda Teertha’ near Kaup at around 1:30 am in the presence of Vidyasarara Theertha Swamiji, Vidyavallabha Swamiji, Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji and Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Sri Krishna Mutt.
This was followed by a huge procession which started from Jodukatte, near Big Bazar in Udupi, moved towards Sri Krishna Mutt via Court Road, Diana Circle, Kalpana Talkies, Kolade Pete, Tenkapete street and finally, culminated at Car Street. Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Puttige Mutt and Senior Seer of Admar Mutt did not participate in the procession.
After the procession came to an end, Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji took part in a darshan at Kanakanakindi and visited Chandramauleshwara Temple as well as Anantheshwara temple to offer prayers.
Later, the Akshaya Patra (which is the ladle and key of the Mutt) was formally handed over to Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji by the outgoing Paryaya Palimar Swamiji. This signified the official transfer of caretaker duties involving the Sri Krishna Mutt.
MP Shobha Karandlaje, MLA Raghupathi Bhat, former Ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake and Pramod Madhwaraj, former MLA U R Sabhapathy, other political leades, and Sri Krishna Seva Balaga members were present.
