Tumakuru man with travel history to Delhi dies due to COVID-19

Tumakuru: One person hailing from Tumakuru district on Friday due to COVID-19.

This is the first death due to COVID-19 in the district and the third in the state.

Confirming the same, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar said that a 65-year-old man from Shira had been admitted to the hospital after he was tested positive for COVID-19 couple of daya ago. However, he died on Friday.

It is said that he had travelled to New Delhi by train on March 3 along with a few of his family members and others.

A total of 33 persons, including his family members are being tested.

The district administration has issued red alert for three kms and buffer zone for five kms around the residence of the victim.

The statistics as on Friday morning show that a total of 724 have been infected in the country and 17 have die so far.
