Tumakuru: Three students of Vidyavaridhi International Boarding School, Chikkanayakanahalli in the taluk lost their lives while two others are reported to be serious due to food poisoning.
The students who died due to food poisoning are Shanthamurthy, Aakansha Pallakki and Shreyas, while the other student identified as Sudarshan and a guard of the residential school are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Reportedly they took ill after consuming the dinner served at the residential school on Tuesday, March 7 and were immediately taken to a hospital.
The boarding school belongs to ex-MLA Kiran Kumar.
Meanwhile, District health officer of the district, Rangaswamy has said that the other students were not affected since they did not consume the food seeing the condition of these five people. He also added that food samples have been sent for testing.
A case has been registered at Huliyar Police Station and an investigation is currently underway.
