Tumakuru: Congress’ incumbent MP from the Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency S P Muddahanumegowda has decided to contest as a rebel candidate from the constituency. The Congress party had denied him a ticket to contest in the elections as the seat was already allocated to its alliance partner- JDS.
From the JDS, former prime minister and party supremo H D Devegowda will contest as the candidate.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with his supporters, Muddahanumegowda informed that it is a question of his pride and self-respect. “All incumbent MPs have been allocated tickets by protecting their constituencies. Unfortunately, my constituency is not protected. So, I decided to contest under pressure from the party activists,” he said.
