Tumakuru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, on Thursday, January 2, asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release Rs 50,000 crore for the development of the state as many parts were recently devastated by floods.

He was addressing the gathering in Tumakuru during an event organised on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit.

Stating that he had placed the request for relief earlier as well, he said, “I request the Prime Minister to release additional funds of Rs 50,000 crores for the state as it was recently affected by severe floods.”

It can be recalled that 40 lakh families were affected by floods in August of 2019 and 22 districts were devastated by the deluge.

Modi was in Tumakuru to launch the fourth phase of the Kisan Samman Yojana, visit the Sri Siddaganga Mutt and unveil a plaque to mark the laying of the foundation stone for a memorial museum of Shri Shri Shivakumar Swamiji.
