New Delhi: The fast approaching Lok Sabha election has gotten everyone riled up and left many confused. As is with every general election, this year too, lakhs of people will be exercising their right to vote for the first time. With several news media platforms, online portals and also fake news factories trying to influence the minds, many of the electorates have a lot of questions. Considering that a large section of the population has access to the internet, the Election Commission of India has decided to answer people’s queries regarding the Lok Sabha polls via Twitter.

Apart from launching an app and a helpline number, the EC has also floated a Twitter handle @ECISVEEP on March 18, so that people can contact them with their queries regarding the LS polling process. In a bid to spread voter awareness, the commission is also posting educational and informational content on its Twitter handle with the hashtag- #DeshKaMahaTyohar.

The EC’s very first tweet read: “Carryover the spirit of Holi to the polling day to colour your finger with the indelible ink, marking your presence in #DeshKaMahatyohar! Vote is your right, Vote is your responsibility #GoVote. (sic)”

The move has been welcomed by the masses and some even gave suggestions on how the EC can make the voting experience less hectic. Some even raised concerns regarding the EVMs.

Overall, it seems that like the move has received a positive response from the people.
