Mumbai: The selectors are about to pick the 15-man squad for the ICC World Cup 2015, starting from February, here on Tuesday.
Out-of-favour all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has bounced back in the fray as Ravindra Jadeja’s availability is under scanner (he withdrew from the Test series in Australia due to a shoulder injury). Jadeja will also not play the triangular series starting on January 16.
The cricketer is currently at the BCCI centre in Chennai under physiotherapist Nitin Patel who is supposed to provide the health reports to the national selectors. However, if one analyses the quality of players in the current ODI set-up, here are the few names that is bound to board the flight.
Rohit Sharma – the man who has two ODI double hundreds – sealed his spot by this feat. Shikhar Dhawan is likely to be the opener along with him. Ajinkya Rahane has found his aggression playing in Australia and shall take care of the middle-order along with Virat Kohli. They will be followed by Suresh Raina, who is a terrific finisher, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Jadeja’s No 7 slot could either go to Akshar Patel or Ravichandran Ashwin. Advantage? Both of them can bat.
Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma is expected to form the pace trio.
