The Great Wall hits out at BCCI

Bangalore : Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid said that the image of Indian cricket had taken a hit and something needed to be done about restoring the credibility of cricket in the country.

In an emotional appeal to the top brass of the BCCI, Dravid said ,”There are so many fans and so many people who deeply care about cricket and it becaue of these fans we are who we are as cricketers.”

In what can be seen as the first sign of a rift between the powerful BCCI and a representative of the players, Dravid said that a clean-up of Indian cricket was in order. The statement comes as a shock considering the friendship that Dravid enjoys with president-in-exile N Srinivasan. Dravid said that there being many fans of cricket in the country and him being one of them, he was appalled by the current situation that prevailed in Indian cricket.

Saying that the credibility and the reputation of the game was paramount, Dravid said that the administrators in the game were there for the fans and players.

Dravid has also been named as a witness in the IPL spot fixing case – a case in which three players from the franchise, Rajasthan Royals, of which Dravid is the captain, are the prime accused.
