Mumbai: Star shuttler PV Sindhu who won silver at Rio Olympics made it absolutely clear that her present coach Gopichand was the best and she will continue to train under him. Her statement came after Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali during the felicitation ceremony by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments, offered a better coach.
Sindhu during an interview with NDTV said, “For me, Gopichand is my best coach. Don’t want to comment on what minister said.”
Ali had said: “Our Telangana daughter has earned a name in the entire world. We intend to give a very good coach to Sindhu going forward. Her (present) coach (Pullela Gopichand) is also very good. But in addition to that, going forward in any international match, we are sure that she will bring a gold medal.”
Sindhu came close to become India’s first woman individual Olympic gold medallist before losing to Spain’s Carolina Marin in an enthralling final.
