Mysuru Warriors’ squad for KPL 2016 announced

Mysuru: NR Group, the makers of Cycle Pure Agarbathies and owner of Mysuru Warriors formally presented the team for the upcoming KPL 2016 tournament which is scheduled to start from September 16 and go on till October 2. Manish Pandey will be leading the team this season. Local boy Aditya Sagar who represented India in U-16, will be leading the team in the first two matches, as Pandey will be captaining India A team which is on tour to Australia.

The all new team will have 20 players out of which 18 have been representing the state at various levels. The remaining two were selected from extensive talent hunt conducted by Mysuru Warriors recently. Among 20 players, five are playing for the first time.

Presenting the team and sponsors, Arjun Ranga, owner of Mysuru Warriors and Managing Director Cycle Pure Agarbathies said, “We are extremely satisfied with our team this year. It is a good mix of talent and experience. We are confident that, this season we will witness good cricket”. Suresh, Manager of Mysuru Warriors introduced their sponsors for the season. Cycle Pure Agarbathies is the principal sponsor.

Elaborating on the team, coach Rx Murali, said, “With good depth in bowling, batting and fielding, we have a strong side. We are also fortunate to have a strong support staff consisting of Assistant Coach Vijay Madhyalkar, Fitness Trainer Shyam Rao and Physiotherapist Shravan. We also have Bradly James Haddin, former Australian international cricket player as a mentor for our team. I am confident the team will exhibit an exciting game of cricket and keep the crowds entertained”.

Modeled on the lines of IPL, the 20-20 tournament which is organized by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) will witness competition between 8 teams. Started in 2009, the Karnataka Premier League is now in its fifth season. It will commence from September 16. The finals will be held in Hubballi on October 2. Mysuru Warriors, though had a good team last year, didn’t make it to last four. It stood seventh in the table.

Over the years, Cycle Pure Agarbathies has become one of the leading brands to be associated with cricket in India. Recently, they had also organized a Tri-series in Mysuru.
