KPL: Mangalore United register another win

Hubli: After a rest day and the shift of the ongoing Karnataka Premier League to its Hubli leg, Mangalore United beat the Mysore Warriors by 6 runs to register another win, thereby consolidating their position into the semi-finals.

Batting first, Mangalore United managed to set a total of 152 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Ganesh Satish high scored for Mangalore with a score of 45, followed by Pawan Deshpande with 38 and Karun Nair with 25. For the Warriors, V Kumar, J Suchith and R Madhusudan managed to take a wicket each for 20, 21 and 29 runs respectively.

In response, Mysore Warriors managed to take it down to the wire, scoring 146/5 powered by good performances by A Verma who remained not out on 73, followed by BN Bharath at 49 and Manish Pandey with 8. The Mangalore United bowlers did not disappoint, with SL Akshay being the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for 28 runs, followed by Ronit More with 1 for 24 and M Yadav with 1 for 37.

The awards for the match are as follows:

Purple Cap – J Suchith (Mysore Warriors)

Best Catch – Sadiq Kirmani (Mysore Warriors)

Best Fielder – Manish Pandey (Mysore Warriors)

Man of the Match – SL Akshay (Mysore Warriors)

The next match for the day is Bijapur Bulls vs Hubli Tigers. Bijapur Bulls, under standing captain Kunal Kapoor have won the toss and elected to field first.
