Mysore: In the seventh match of the ongoing Karnataka Premier League, the Belagavi Panthers on Monday have set a daunting target of 215 for the Rockstars to chase. Having lost the toss and being put into bat, the Belagavi Panthers scored 214/4 in their alloted 20 overs. This is the highest total in all seasons of KPL up to date.
The batting attack was led by openers Bharat Chipli and S Raju who scored 77 and 38 off 46 and 35 balls respectively. Chipli was done in by a faster ball by Ahluwalia, while Raju was stumped swiftly by Sudeep to the bowling of Gopan. NM Ram scored a total of 37 from 20 balls and was caught by Karthik in the deep to Vikrath’s bowling.
Towards the end, Gowtham K scored a quickfire 15 of just 6 balls assisted by S Hoover with 1 run off 2 balls. The extras however cost the Rockstars dear, who are struggling with their bowling. They gave away as many as 24 runs in the form of extras.
Gopan, Vikranth and Ahluwalia picked up a wicket each for the rockstars. R Teja was the most economical of the bowlers with an economy of 7.00, giving away 28 runs off his 4 overs.
In the mid innings break, all the players got together to celebrate the birthday of Kiccha Sudeep by means of cutting a cake. Speaking on the occasion, Sudeep thanked all the organizers of KPL for the opportunity and wished everyone including his fans for the support.
