Mysore: Rockstars (film actors side) would always find it difficult to compete against the professional cricketers.
And it did show on Sunday evening when they were handed a 73-run thrashing by Bellary Tuskers in Match 6 of the Karbonn Smart Karnataka Premier League (KPL) here. Schedule Rockstars were no match to the Tuskers at the Gangothri Glades ground.
First, they were hammered for 189 runs in 20 overs (highest team score so far) and in the run chase they folded for 116 runs.
This was Rockstars’ second straight loss. They had gone down convincingly, by 7 wickets, to defending champions Mangalore United in the league’s opener on Thursday (August 28) at the same venue. Knowing that Rockstars will be easy opponents, even the Tuskers co-owner V Purushotham played the game and bagged four wickets with his off-spin. However, it was left-hander Abrar Kazi, who was the star, with an all-round performance which gave him the Man-of-the-match award.
For the next game, Tuskers will welcome their star batsman and costliest player of the league, Robin Uthappa. He had a niggle and missed out opening two games. They will play on September 3 against Hubli Tigers. The only consolation for Rockstars was captain Sudeep picking up the ‘Best Fielder’ award for taking three catches as wicketkeeper.
