The sporting world has come to a standstill amid the coronavirus outbreak and there have been hardly any Sports Updates. In fact, with no cricket to play, cricket betting odds have also had a deep impact. The sporting events have been canceled or postponed due to the Covid-19, which has had an economic effect on the sports industry. As the sports events have been canceled or deferred due to the deadly virus, the athletes are left locked down at their respective places.

The Indian athletes have suffered a big economic impact on their salaries as no sport is taking place. Furthermore, the players have not been able to train outdoors in the last two months, which has added salt to the injury. Consequently, some players might veer off the track upon their return as it is not easy to maintain fitness if one cannot train outside.

In fact, there is no doubt that it is not going to be easy to hit the ground running for these players when they get back to training.

The key revenue generation for sporting bodies is through licensing of television of broadcasting rights. But the same has gone out of the picture as no action has been possible in the last three months. Thus, the sporting bodies across India have suffered huge monetary losses due to coronavirus pandemic.

Subsequently, the different sports bodies are left with no other option and they are forced to contemplate making pay cuts from players’ salaries as they have not been able to make any kind of revenue in the last three months. It is a big blow for the players financially as they have not received their dues from their respective sporting bodies.

Meanwhile, it is well known that the Indian cricketers are highly paid as BCCI is the richest cricketing board in the world. However, as the IPL is hanging on by a thin thread, the Indian players are not sure of their payments.

In fact, the Indian board is set to suffer a loss of INR 4000 crores if the IPL doesn’t happen and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has revealed that they will be forced to cut player’s salaries if the tournament doesn’t happen.

If the Indian cricket board is suffering such losses amid the health crisis, imagine the condition of other sporting bodies in the country. Indian athletes sans cricketers are not known to be paid well by the concerning authorities and it is always a struggle for them.

In fact, the economic sporting condition has somewhat improved in the recent past after the introduction of different kinds of leagues in India. However, coronavirus has come as a big financial hurdle for the Indian athletes, especially the ones who don’t get paid very well.

Ergo, the players are hoping that the situation will improve in the coming time and they would be able to once again train and play and get back to their profession. In fact, the stadiums have reopened in India and the athletes have started to once again train themselves.
