Sydney: Mickey Arthur has said, “he is shocked to be sacked as Australia coach just 16 days before the start of the Ashes series against England”.
The South African, 45, faced criticism following poor performances and disciplinary issues within the camp.
Australias first overseas coach feels he has been “let down” by Cricket Australia and is a “fall guy”.
Arthur was told just last night that he was out a of a job and he feels somewhat let down by Cricket Australia and a bit of a fall guy.
“I also understand that Australia captain Michael Clarke has stood down from the selectors panel. He has been quite supportive of Arthur these past few weeks and after this news he felt he could not continue to work with the selection panel.”
It is reported that former Test batsman Darren Lehmann, currently coaching the Australia A side in England, will replace Arthur.
