Shivamogga: Protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAA) a huge group of women organized a protest rally at the Idga Maidan on Thursday, December 26 and later handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
The protesters said that the Act was against Article 14, 19 and 21 of the Indian Constitution and was a strategy by the Central government to divide the counter based on religion. They opined that this was the first-of-its-kind Act in the history of the country which makes division, based on religion.
They said, “the BJP is trying to impose Hindu agenda in the country by force. We will stand with all those who protest against it. Shivamogga Muslim women condemn the government’s move of keeping one religion out of the CAA.”
On the other hand, the Students United Movement too protested against the Act at Idga Maidan and opined the same. They condemned the act of the police firing and killing of innocents throughout the nation.
Meanwhile, the protesters urged for a judicial inquiry on the attack and assault on students by the police.
