Shivamogga: “From rural India to the youth of the country, people of all classes will benefit from the Union Budget which was presented yesterday,” said Member of Parliament B Y Raghavendra.
Speaking at a press conference, Raghavendra said, “This is the budget for providing basic facilities like education, water and electricity. This budget will also help achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of $5 trillion economy.”
“The budget emphasises on roadways, railways, Bharatmala Yojana and Udan Yojana and also focuses on ‘Har Ghar Jal’ (water to every house) programme. Measures are being taken to construct 80 lakh houses. A target set to finish the construction of one house in 140 days is a welcome move. Agriculture-based industry is emphasised. In 2013, inflation was upto 10.3% and now it has come down to 7.25%,” he said.
“The prices of fertilizers have come down to 40%. This move has been made to increase the income of the farmers by 2022,” he added.
“The Centre has decided to wind up 19 public sector enterprises which are running under loss, including Air India. However, around 28 public sectors undergoing loss will not be closed, instead private firms will be allowed to invest in these sectors. Privatisation is nothing new, it is being done from a very long time,” said Raghavendra.
“I am making efforts not to privatise Vishweshwaraiah Iron and Steel Limited (VISL). The Ministry of Steel will not be present in the NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), instead the aayog comprises of high ranking officials and nobody knows what report they submit,” he said.
“I would like to tell the labourers of VISL that I will put all my efforts not to privatise the plant,” added Raghavendra.
