Shivamogga: The newly elected Gram Panchayat members will undergo an intensive training by the Abdul Nazeer Sahab State Institute of Rural Development, Mysuru.
The Minister also said that the Presidents and Vice-Presidents will be elected within one month of the announcement of the reservation for the posts.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj KS Eshwarappa said that the training will cost about Rs 27 cr.
Addressing the reporters in Shivamogga, he said that the training will be held in 285 centres in 176 taluks. Each batch will have 40 members and will be conducted for five days- from 10.30 am to 4 pm.
The newly elected members will be told about the Panchayat system, formation of the Panchayat, responsibility of the members, their ward and conducting Ward meetings, participation and other aspects that will help them perform efficiently.
Group discussions will be held and the members will get ample opportunity to interact with the senior officials too.
