Shivamogga: “The Shivamogga district was connected to other districts only through roadways. But in the coming days, it will be connected to other districts and state through railways”, said Member of Parliament B Y Raghavendra.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, November 11, he said, “The Shivamogga district will achieve a milestone in railways shortly. Once a train travels 3500 km, service and maintenance is required. This facility is only available in Bengaluru. Hence, we have decided to establish a service centre in the district. With this, several trains can be serviced here. All this will be done in a span of three years.”
“We have received several suggestions on having Smarty Light railway stations at three venues – Shivamogga, Koteganguru and Talaguppa. We will take a decision soon, " he added.
Speaking about the train schedules, Raghavendra said, “Trains which were available only once a week, will be made available twice a week in another 15-20 days. People who travel to Tirupati will be benefitted by this. A survey on the Shivamogga-Shikaripur-Ranebennur rail line needs to be carried out as there are issues with its sub divisions. To resolve the issues, an SLO will be appointed soon, through whom the survey will be carried out and the rail lines will be connected. Within a short period of time, doubling of railway lines between Birur and Shivamogga will also be carried out. If the railway terminal at Byappanahalli will be constructed soon, the doubling process can be initiated soon.”
“Issues were raised on the railway tracks placed across the ring road from Rotary Blood Bank till KEB Circle. These tracks will be relocated and shortly a ring road will be constructed at the cost of Rs 12 cr," he said adding that potholes will be filled by the Shivamogga City Corporation soon.
