Shivamogga: The city Bharatiya Jananata Party (BJP) unit has decided to distribute laadus on Thursday, May 30, on occassion of the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who gained unprecedented victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
The sweets will be distributed to every house in Shivamogga city by booth level BJP activists in the morning, on May 30. Arrangements have been made to prepare around 1 lakh laadus in the city’s Gopala Gowda Extension and Venkatesh Nagar, and also at senior BJP Leader K S Eshwarappa’s residence.
Speaking at a press conference, K S Eshwarappa said that he will not attend the swearing-in ceremony, instead he will celebrate it with the partyworkers in Shivamogga.
“There are three hundred booths in the city and each booth has three hundred houses. This makes a count of ninety thousand houses. Ten thousand extra laadus are being prepared. As many as hundred and fifty people are working to prepare one lakh laadus from the past four days,” said Eshwarappa.
Speaking about the state government’s decision to sell 3,666 acres of land to Jindal Group, Eshwarappa said that the move is condemnable.
“Today the state government is selling 3,666 acres of land for just Rs 30 crores. Is there any guarantee that it will not sell the whole state someday?” he asked.
“Soon a legislators’ meeting will be called to discuss about protesting against the government’s decision to sell the land to Jindal Group,” he added.
