Shivamogga: Even before the arrival of the summer season, an outbreak of the Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) has been confirmed in the Shivamogga district. A second positive case of KFD fever has been reported from Gujaravalli village in Sagar taluk.

It can be recalled that in the summer of 2019, a total of 16 people died in the KFD outbreak in the Shivamogga district alone.

According to media reports, a 22-year-old youth named Bharat is now being treated for KFD in the Sagar General Hospital. Doctors who have been treating him informed that he is slowly recovering.

Meanwhile, Sagar taluk Panchayat President Mallikarjun Hakre urged the state government to commission at least 2 ambulances at the Sagar Hospital so that any other KFD patients could be quickly ferried to Manipal for treatment.
