Shivamogga: The Congress members of the Shivamogga City Corporation have submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner K B Shivakumar, requesting him not to transfer corporation commissioner Charulatha Somal.
The memorandum was submitted on Wednesday, September 18, by the corporation’s Congress members, under the leadership of Ramesh Hegde.
They said, “We are hearing rumors that Charulatha Somal is going to be transferred. She has worked very hard during the recent flood relief operations and her pro-people decisions show that she is an honest officer. She has seen to it that the people’s properties are protected during the floods.”
“Somal has won the hearts of the people in just over a year after assuming power as the corporation commissioner. There are rumors spreading that there is a conspiracy brewing behind the scenes regarding the IAS officers’ transfer. We urge, on the behalf of the people of the district, that she should not be transferred at any cost,” they added.
Members Yamuna Range Gowda, Rekha K Ranganath, H C Yogesh, Shameer Khan and others were present.
