Shivamogga: The safari officials have adopted a unique method to cut costs on animal feed in the safari park. They have begun growing their own feed such as maize, millets and other grassy crop.
The crop cultivation is spread across 10 acres of land under a process called fodder plot.
Speaking to ANI, Assistant Conservator of Forest Mukund Chandra said that the unique process of cultivating crops as feed for around 150 herbivores in the park will help in both saving money and supply of enough food for the animals.
He said that the land, which was filled with unwanted shrubs, has now been converted into a grassland, helping them save around Rs 1 lakh.
