Bengaluru: Likeminded environmental organisations called for a bundh in the Shivamogga district on July 10 in protest against the diversion of water from the Linganamakki dam to Bengaluru city.
Newskarnataka.com was the first to report this proposal, according to which, the state government wants to pump 10 TMCs of water from the Linganamakki dam to Bengaluru through 300 kilometres of pipeline.
A meeting of activists, which was attended by well known writer N D’souza and leaders from all the political parties had taken a decision in this regard.
A committee named Sharavati Ulisi Horata Okkuta was formed to lead the agitation. Thinker Prasanna has been nominated as the honorary president while N D’souza will be the chairman.
