Prominent persons meet to discuss Linganamakki water to B’luru issue

Shivamogga: A meeting to discuss the protest against drawing water to Bengaluru from Linganamakki Reservoir was held on Saturday, June 22 in Sagar.

Speaking at the meeting, Sashi Sampalli said, “There are no alternative water sources for Bengaluru as the politicians and authorities lack forethought. Sharavati Reservoir has been constructed to generate electric power. There is scarcity of water in the Malnad region. There are no proper irrigation systems available for the agricultural lands here. The government should give us first priority.”

Environmentalist Akhilesh Chippalli, Taluk Panchayat President Mallikarjun Hakre, journalist Sashi Sampalli, B R Jayanth, Kalagodu Ratnakar, Shankar Sharma, T D Megharaj, Ajay Sharma Shivamogga, Yesu Prakash, Shivanand Kugve, Vamadeva Gowda, Harsha Kumar Kugve among hundreds of other prominent persons were present in the meeting. Journalist Chaarvaaka Raghu welcomed the gathering.
