Police have to abide by the strict rules regarding corona: DIG Praveen Sood

Shivamogga: State Police Director General Praveen Sood congratulated the police for their hard work on during corona.

He was speaking to the media persons and said that the number of covid cases are increasing again. “Police have been alerted and they have to abide by the strict rules regarding corona. 80% of police have obtained coronavirus vaccinations,” he said.

DIG Praveen further said, “officials have brought to my notice some issues in Shivamoga. Some police posts need to be filled at stations where there is a man power problem.” He also noted that some upgradation  on this regard has been done. Eight to nine police post have been filled, he said.  

“We have to wait and see how to deal with the drug case,” he informed.

He also said that the government has decided to build a police commisserate in Shivamoga. There are technical issues regarding the same as it requires that the place need to have 10 lakh population, he said.

DIG Praveen spoke on the SIT investigation into the case of former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi and said that SIT is an independent body and is impartial.

Discussing how it works all the time is not a good practice. Public can question, but police cannot question, he opined. “The purpose of creating SIT is to investigate and they work independently. They will provide information to the court in a sealed envelope. I have nothing to say about it,” he stressed.

He added that the investigation in Hunsodu case is ongoing and that everyone will know about the status once a charge sheet is filed.
