Shivamogga/Udupi: The Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) has claimed nine lives in Shivamogga so far and the latest reports claim that the KFD viruses have been detected in carcasses of monkeys recovered from Sirivanthe, Bandagadde and Lingadahalli in Sagar taluk. The viscera collected from these areas were recently sent to Pune for testing and the results are positive.
The doctors have said that with the possibilities of the disease spreading to these areas, the locals must apply DMP oil while venturing into forest areas to avoid tick bites.
Meanwhile, in Udupi, the KFD scare has reached Kundapur taluk as the virus has been detected in the viscera collected from carcasses of the monkeys from Siddapura, Hosangadi, Shiroor, Byndoor, Kandlur, Belwee, Brahmavar, and Hirgana.
