Shivamogga: Labourers of Vishweshwaraiah Iron and Steel Limited (VSIL) staged an indefinite protest, here on Sunday, July 7, against the sale of the company.
During the protest the protestors raised slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party State President B S Yeddyurappa and his son and sitting MP BY Raghavendra.
The protestors were irked because MP BYR had left to Bengaluru despite his appointment to meet the union leaders.
They said, “Both father and son have betrayed us by promising that they would privatize the company and now are not standing by us. They are showing their double standards.”
Meanwhile, BJP’s Jyoti Prakash and Dattatri addressed the protestors on behalf of BYR and assured them that they would definitely organize a meeting with BYR in Bhadravati.
Although both the BJP leaders tried to convince the protestors, they continued to shout slogans against the father-son duo.
