Shivamogga: The Kannada Rakshana Vedike (Praveen Shetty faction) gheraoed Minister KS Eshwarappa, on Friday, in Shivamogga, alleging that the Kannada flag was not hoisted during the Rajyotsava celebration in the district.
The organisation members said that if the Kannada flag is not hoisted on the Rajyotsava day, it becomes one of the biggest insults to the state.
The Minister had just finished his press meet in DAR Hall and was having tea with other dignitaries when the members of the Vedike barged in and gheraoed Eshwarappa.
The protesters were taken away by the police instantly.
Mayor Latha Ganesh, Deputy Mayor Channabasappa, Deputy Commissioner Shivkumar, Superintendent of Police K M Shantharaju, Additional DC Anuradha among others were present.
