Shivamogga: A monkey, which was found dead in the Kuppe village of Soraba town, was cremated by the health department officials on Monday, January 20.

The monkey was cremated by Dr Mahadeva Kumar of the Ulavi Primary Health Centre.

Speaking to the media, he said, “We request all the villagers to compulsorily get vaccinated for the Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD). People of all ages are frightened about KFD. If someone is suffering from fever and it doesn’t come under control even after 24 hours, then it is very important to contact the nearest health care centre and get a blood test.”

Sources have said that the villagers seem to be afraid after news of the dead monkey spread.
