Guns and machetes make come back in once notorious Shivamogga?

Shivamogga: Once notorious for rowdyism, machetes are striking in the open and the guns blazing in Shivamogga again. And the perpetrator again is realty. An attempt to murder a realtor with a gun near Chalukyanagar and the robbing of a jeweller using lethal weapons stand to testify the recent development here.

Addressing a press meet on Thursday, July 18, Superintendent of Police Dr. M Ashwini disclosed that two accused had been arrested and a revolver seized in the incidents that took place during the past two days.

On July 16 night, while realtor Habeeb Khan was driving his car, he was waylaid and threatened with life at gunpoint by a gang of five men. However, the timely arrival of Habeeb’s son and his friend to the spot saved his life and the miscreants fled. An attempt to murder complaint was filed at the Tunganagar police station accusing Habeeb’s business partner Kalimullah alias Kalim Pasha. In the complaint, it has been stated that Kalim and Habeeb had an altercation two years ago. It is alleged that Kalim had threatened to kill Habeeb following a financial dispute.

The police have nabbed Kalim for hiring killers to finish Habib along with the five hired killers. In another incident, on July 16 morning, jeweller Anisur Islam was told by one Ateeq that notorious rowdy Sathu alias Sadiq had summoned him. Ateeq, then took Anisur on his two wheeler to a goods shed in the city railway station. Here Ateeq along with Sadiq Dadapeer and others forced Anisur into a car, drove him near Holaluru and assaulted him to give away Rs 3000 cash. A robbery case was filed in this regard.

Today at 8 AM, the accused Sadiq, Ateeq, Dadapeer of Ballari, Anjola Fernandes of Mumbai and car driver Kumar Gowda from Ballari were nabbed. A revolver, one round of ammunition, a white car have been seized in this connection.

Lauding the police team over the successful operation, SP Dr. M Ashwini and Additional SP Dr. T H Shekhar assured that all the necessary measures would be taken to curb rowdyism, robbery and rioting.
