Shivamogga: A meeting on different developmental works, chaired by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol and Rural Development Minister K S Eshwarappa, was held at the committee meeting hall of the Vidhana Soudha here on Monday, September 16.
During the meeting, the network issue faced by the Shivamogga and Malnad regions was highlighted.
Several directions such as towers to be installed after a meeting with the private telecom companies, were given to the concerned department officials. Private companies were directed to partner with BSNL to establish better connectivity so that the youth who travel to the Malnad region from Bengaluru during their holidays can be benefitted.
Meanwhile, the private telecom companies, which participated in the meeting, were directed to see to it that there would not be any network issues in the region. To this end, the government stated that it was ready to extend all necessary assistance.
Regarding the development of the roads, the issues pertaining to the land acquisition process for the Tumakuru-Shivamogga highway and the railways for a two-lane ring road around Shivamogga, was sorted out. It was decided to use the mud collected from the ponds and lakes lying on the side of the highway for the road construction.
The department was directed to appoint more officials so that the highway work can be completed at a faster rate.
The officials were also directed to construct the Sigandooru bridge (which is about 2.4 km) to promote tourism.
