Shivamogga: In a meeting chaired by Minister K. S. Eshwarappa on Sunday May 9, it was decided to create check post in the wards starting on Monday to make arrangements to purchase essential items. The public is allowed to walk to the essential and medical stores and not take their vehicle.

In all, 76 check post have been marked in the district, out of this, 31 check posts is in the city. "During first round of Janata curfew so far 272126 vehicles were seized and let off. Again, the vehicles seized from Monday will not be let off until next 14 days to the owners," said Lakshmi Prasad, district superintendent of police.

He was speaking at a meeting and said that 80% awareness on wearing masks has been raised. Siege of 142 commercial stores were made for violation. The cases have been filed against the owners too. One can use vehicle only to travel to the hospital. Only buying of essentials such as vegetables and milk has been allowed.

Two oxygen cases have been registered. The SP said that in Mc Gann hospital, relatives of covid patients should not allowed to the Covid ward whereas now they are found. The minister replied that the members will not be allowed even after wearing a PPE kit. The members can contact family members over phone, suggested minister.

Hopcoms are allowed to sell 70 vehicles of vegetables. The minister instructed the commissioner not to make retail sales outside the APMC. The pushcarts are allowed to function between 6 am and 12 pm. In the rural area, it is allowed to sell vegetables for two days in a week on vehicle.

Minister said that there is no permission to allow people to travel or walk around after check post is formed. In the meeting it was decided to allow 6-12 persons to walk under the panchayat limit. There is no permission given to morning walk with all parks and stadium asked to shut down. "Whether to allow agricultural activities on the fields at the border areas is yet to be decided upon," said minister. He also instructed the officials not to stop providing jobs under job schemes at any cost in the rural areas. The labourers should be divided into smaller groups and social distancing should be strictly followed, instructed the minister.
