Bengaluru: In a first of its kind development for the Kannada film industry, two films will be released directly on the Over-the-top media services (OTT) platform. The filmmakers have decided to completely do away with the theater release.
According to the sources in the Sandalwood, two Kannada films- Law and French Biriyani will be released directly on the OTT platform through Amazon Prime, a prominent OTT platform.
While Law will release on June 26, French Biriyani will release on July 24.
With no theater costs involved, the Kannada movie producers and directors are hoping for a better profit under the new format.
Owing to the lockdown, no malls and theatres are allowed to open and the same has had an impact on the film industry.
