Bengaluru: Film Director Indrajit Lankesh is facing massive backlash after he questioned the autopsy procedure of young actor Chiranjeevi Sarja, while speaking about drug usage in Sandalwood.
The director had questioned if the autopsy of Chiru Sarja was even done and if it has not been done then why it wasn’t done.
He said the cause of death of 39-year-old actor was not known and that there was “pressure on the doctors from some powerful people/politicians.
Indrajit’s comment, which indirectly implies that the late actor was consuming drugs did not go down well with Chiru’s family members and fans.
While Meghana Raj, wife of Chiru has responded and questioned why Chiru’s name is being dragged into the episode, she said that nobody is going to gain anything using the name of an individual who is not even present to defend himself.
“Nobody has the right to de-fame a dead person who cannot defend himself. Nobody does post mortem for natural death like heart attack… we have had deaths in our family… we all know it … plz don’t connect SSR death to C. hiru for ur own publicity. (sic)” Chiru’s close friend and director Pannaga Bharan said.
Chiru Sarja’s brother and actor Dhruv Sarja too has opposed the statement made by Indrajit.
The Central Crime Branch police have asked Sandalwood film maker Indrajit Lankesh to appear before them on August 31 and share information about alleged drug abuse by some actors in the Kannada film industry.
