Mysuru: President of India Pranab Kumar Mukherjee inaugurated the 17th National Scouts and Guides Jamboree at Mysore on Thursday, December 29.
Adakanahalli on the outskirts of the city was bedecked for the week long jamboree. The 350-acre ground at Adakanahalli off Mysuru-Nanjanagudu road resembled a township (Jamboree grama)
The township wills accommodate over 25000 scouts and guides cadets taking part in the weeklong celebrations representing 52 different zones of the country. Cadets from countries like Srilanka, Bangladesh, China, Saudi Arabia and Canada are taking part in the event.
State Governor Vajubhai Vala, Chief Minister Siddaramiah, Union Minister Ananth Kumar, District In Charge minister HC Mahadevappa, Education minister Tanveer Sait, Rajmatha Pramoda Devi, Defense officials and Senior officials from Scouts and guides were present on the occasion.
President received the guard of honor from cadets.
Acrobatic and cultural performances by participating cadets enthralled audience to their feet.
