Interestingly, in both waves, the number of male infected children is higher compared to female children.

The sources said that most of the children were either asymptomatic or showed mild symptoms.

Meanwhile, the district administration has been preparing to deal with the possible third wave of the pandemic. By holding several rounds of meeting with the health officials and doctors of Private Children’s hospitals, the district administration has asked the hospitals to make required preparation to provide necessary treatment to saves the lives of children who could get infected in the third wave. On the one hand, the district administration has been preparing for the third wave, vaccination drive has also been continued extensively in the district to prevent the spreading of Covid. A total of 3,58,225 persons have been vaccinated with first dose while 82,580 persons have got both jabs. This has brought the total number vaccinated persons to 440805 in the district. Compared to the total number of target beneficiaries (1703873), only 440805 people have got vaccines which are little over 25% of the total targeted beneficiaries.

“ We started vaccinating first to frontline workers, but now as we have enough doses of vaccines, we are extensively taking up vaccination drive. In the past, we could vaccinate only around 3000 people, but today, we are administering vaccine close to 20,000 people every day. Considering this and based on the availability of vaccines, we should be able to vaccinate all targeted people in short time”, said Deputy Commissioner, P. Sunil Kumar.
