“Four out of 10 dogs of covid positive patients are getting abandoned when their owners go into isolation or gets tested covid positive,” said Thanisha Changappa, Architect. Thanisha who has been working with stray dog, feeding about 700 to 800 every day, came up with the idea to create a platform to solve this worry of pet parents. She started ‘We Care 4 Your Pet’ which acts as a directory that helps the pet owners to connect with the necessary resources to take care of their pet dogs.

This Pan India platform has been developed by Thanisha after a thorough research on the various option that are available. “Across India there are a lot of services that are available to take care of the pets when their parents are in such a condition but the problem is that people are not aware about them,” she said. She explained that when these owners get infected with the virus or has to go into quarantine, they have a lot of things to worry about otherwise itself and do not know where to look for options to take care of their pets. “The easy to access platform of ‘We care 4 your Pets’ shows the owners the different provisions around their cities,” she said. The team is currently working on an app which will have adoption, consultation and meal sponsoring options.

Thanisha said that these pets that are abandoned are not the typical Indian dogs that you see on the street. “There are dogs breeds like Pitbull, Golden Retriever and Dash that are left behind and we get calls from owners who are concerned about their welfare,” she said. She went on to explain that these dogs cannot be left behind and that they also need the care and if alone for a really long time can even go into depression and die.

Our country is facing a bizarre situation right now where the number of active cases is increasing per day. Through this platform, Thanisha aims to take away the worries of the dog owners and to rescue these pets from being abandoned.
