“Due to the continuous efforts of the district administration and health department, under the able guidance of District in-charge minister Murugesh Nirani, Kalaburagi district which was among the top in Covid-reported cases has now slipped to 30th position and is progressing towards becoming a corona-free district,” informed the officials of the Murugesh Nirani’s office.

Speaking to News Karnataka the officials of Mines and Heology Minister’s office said, “following the guidance of the minister Deputy Commissioner V.V. Jyotsna, CEO D Sasi and elected representatives of the district, put in several initiatives to contain Covid-19 pandemic in Kalaburagi district.

Explaining the measures to combat the Covid-19 he said, “We have planned to recognise and reward corona warriors through the Covid-Nirmulana initiative in order to further inspire and motivate them in their fight against the pandemic. We upload the RT-PCR test results within 24 hours and each taluk has a dedicated vehicle to send the samples to the central lab to upload results.”

Further, we have mobile swab collection teams that are already functioning in Kalaburagi. A team of doctors and medical interns contact each person, who tested positive, after confirming their credentials tele-triaging is being conducted. The team will decide whether the patient needs hospitalisation, Covid Care Centre, or home isolation, he informed.

“Healthcare workers will visit those identified for home isolation. The patients will be provided with medical kits. The teachers will conduct tele- counselling. They call the patients, keep a record of their health condition and inform the medical officer if medical care is needed. This will continue till the patient recovers from the infection,” he added.

He informed that the minister has started several initiatives such as the provision of oxygen, the procurement of Remdesivir vials, and other emergency medical necessities, as well as the upgrading of hospitals with oxygenated beds and the establishment of Covid Care Centres to treat patients amid an increase in Covid-19 cases in the State.
