Dubai: Here’s some good news for tourists looking to visit the UAE for a really long time. This visa will be available to people of all nationalities.
In an announcement made on Monday, January 6, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the ruler of Dubai, said that tourists can now obtain visas to the country for a period of five years.
This move comes as a bid to boost the country’s tourism industry and establish the UAE as a “global tourist destination”. It will also make it easier for residents to bring their relatives to the country for visits.
In a tweet, Sheikh Mohammed wrote, “Today, we have approved the change of the tourist visa system in the country so that the duration for five years, multiple uses, for all nationalities. We receive more than 21 million tourists annually and our aim is to establish the country as a major global tourist destination.”

The new tourist visa was approved by the Cabinet after a review of last year’s achievements.
Sheikh Mohammed added that the new visa was part of wider plans to prepare the country for development over the next 50 years.
“The yea 2020 will be different because it is the year of preparation for the next 50, the year in which we design the future of the Emirates,” Sheikh Mohammed added.
