UAE: V Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, met the Indian diaspora of Abu Dhabi on October 17 at the India Social and Cultural Centre Abu Dhabi.
Addressing the gathering, the minister stressed the cooperation between India and UAE.
“The UAE celebrating ‘Year of Tolerance’ and India celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi will further strengthen the ties between the two countries,” he said.
Chairman of ISC and Lulu Yusuf Ali and Smita Pant, Charge d’affaires of Indian Embassy also spoke on the occasion.
After the programme, there was a photo op with the minister and everyone, including all the guests attending the programme, was invited to take pictures and interact with the minister.
Minister assures action in Clifford Rebello case
KCO president CA Valerian Dalmaida met the minister and informed him about the plight of Clifford Rebello, who has been struggling to get his dues from his employer even after the court ruled in his favour.
When asked if the case has been referred to the Indian Embassy, Dalmaida responded in the affirmative and informed the minister that Ramchander of the Embassy, visited Rebello and the employer’s PRO. The minister then assured Dalmaida that he will clear the issue with the help of the Embassy.
Earlier, the programme commenced with an invocation of the Almighty’s blessings through a prayer dance.
President of the ISC D Natarajan welcomed the gathering. The secretary of ISC P Sathyababu proposed a vote of thanks.
Sarvotham Shetty, President of Karnataka Sangha Abu Dhabi, Mohan Jashanmal of Jashanmal Group and CA Padmanabha Acharya and the office bearers of several organisations were also present.
