Konkani comedy play ‘Futulli Modki’ to be staged in Abu Dhabi on June 13

Abu Dhabi: The Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO), Abu Dhabi is all set to tickle the funny bone of Konkani lovers in the UAE with Francis Fernández Cassia’s top-notch comedy drama “Futulli Modki”. The drama will be played on Thursday, June 13, at the British School-Al Khubairat near St. Joseph Cathedral, Abu Dhabi at 7.30 PM.

The organizers, KCO under the leadership of CA Valerian Dalmaida, are expecting a house-full show as most of the seats are already sold out. Konkani lovers are requested to block their seats as soon as possible for there are only a few more seats left.

Inspired by their success in the past and the response they have received from the community towards their previous ventures, the KCO is planning an exciting evening that their audience will surely enjoy and remember for years to come.

Francis Cassia proves himself time and again with his impeccable comedy timing and excellent punches. There is no wonder that his mischieviousness, dialogues and acting prowess keep the people on the edge of their seats and bursting with laughter. The actors will surely do justice to their characters under the effective direction of Joy Paladka. The story revolves around the family of a rich audacious lady named Janet. This is one of Francis Cassia’s bes plays and has already seen house full shows in India and abroad.

Francis Cassia, who is going to turn 75 years old next month, is one of the reasons why Konkani theatre has bloomed today and is surviving. He has been performing in Konkani plays for over 60 years. There is no doubt that Konkani theatre will stay strong and grow more because of his work. Apart from “Futulli Modki”, here are a few of his other plays: Kiteak Negar Karthay? (1976), Devan Kello Gunyamv (1979), Tanne Mhaka Vikrit Kelo (1982), Matlabi Saunsar (2003) ani Mhataro Chorbela (2007).


The director of the play, Joy Paladka is an experienced artist himself. With the company of senior artists from Goa and Mumbai like Betty Naz, Julie Vas Marol, Flora Dsouza Kalmadi-Jerymery, Shanthi Dsouza Boliye and others, the play is sure to create a laugh riot among the crowd.
