Abu Dhabi: The Konkani community in Abu Dhabi experienced a storm of comedy by the “Mataro Charbela” team’s latest drama, “Fut’lli Modki”, on Thursday, June 13, 2019. The play was presented by the Konkani Cultural Association (KCO, Abu Dhabi) at the British School Auditorium and it was a hit.
The evening began by M.C. Mrs. Reena Pinto calling upon Fr. Rodson Goveas (spiritual director of KCO and St. Joseph’s Konkani community Abu Dhabi) on the stage to invoke God’s blessings on the artists and the audience present in the hall. KCO President CA Valerian Dalmaida welcomed the gathering and gave a brief insight about the benevolent work the KCO has been doing over the last 24 years, since its inception in 1995. He thanked all the sponsors who have stood by the organization over the last 24 years and also requested them to continue their support in the years to come, especially in the year 2020 as the KCO would be celebrating its silver jubilee.
Once again, Francis Fernandes Cassia, a writer and comedian par excellence could take the audience on a laughter journey of more than two and a half hours with his comedy-drama “Fut’lli Modki”. Cassia took the entire drama on his shoulders as he played the lead role and kept the comic graph high throughout the duration of the drama.
Julie Vaz indeed brought laughter ‘Tsunami’ on stage, true to the name of the character played by her in the drama-Tsunami.
Accompanied by the rest of the artist, Betty Naz, Gregory Sequeira, Peter Coutinho, Shanthi Barboza, Vincent Castelino and Flora D’souza, the play successfully tickled the ribs of the audience.
The actors made justice to their characters under the effective direction of Joy Paladka. Great music, excellent dance moves as per the need and the stage lightings took the play to another level. Broadway Events did an excellent job with the stage setting, sound and lighting, which enhanced the beauty of the play.
Francis Fernandes Cassia and Joy Palladka were honored by the President, Secretary and Treasurer of KCO, Abu Dhabi with a shawl, memento and a basket of fruits. The accompanying artists were honored by the Advisory board members of the KCO with bouquets. Mrs. Sandhya Vas rendered the vote of thanks and Mrs. Reena Pinto did a great job in compeering the event. The show ended at 10:45 pm with people asking for more.
Once again, the KCO has delivered a top-notch event and the success of the program is attributed to the generous support of the talented artists, the appreciative audience and dedicated team efforts and organizational skills of the KCO.
