Dubai: During the holy month of Ramadan, the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) is offering free Umrah (Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Hijaz, Saudi Arabia) trips to 25 taxi drivers. This step is being seen as the DTC’s keenness to bring happiness to their cabbies.
“This initiative has been undertaken by the Dubai Taxi Corporation since 2010 and so far, about 1,200 drivers have benefited from this. The initiative is part of the DTC’s social responsibility to make their employees, especially taxi drivers happy,” said the Director of Human Resources at Dubai Taxi Corporation Adel Sharif.
During the selection process, priority was given to drivers who performed excellently and have not made any offences this year as well as winners of the Dubai Taxi Corporation awards. The DTC will cover all the expenses of the trip, and educative lectures will be given about the rituals connected to the Umrah.
“The DTC offers several initiatives to strengthen the ties between the employees, drivers and managers along with educative programmes at its Training and Qualification Centre. It offers rewards as part of its plans and strategic goals to make happier employees, which will ensure better services, trust and loyalty,” Sharif added.
