Mysuru: In a major set back to sitting BJP Member of Parliament Pratap Simha, ‘Zilla Brahmana Mahasabha’ members who campaigned for Pratap Simha during the previous general election have decided go against him in the upcoming election, and have called upon all Brahmin community members to vote for Congress candidate CH Vijayashankar.
Nataraj Jois, President of Zilla Brahmana Mahasabha, said “We are not against BJP but we are against BJP candidate Pratap Simha who is least bothered about the Brahmin community. During the previous general election our community members campaigned in support of Pratap Simha, but now we repent for doing so. His contribution to our Brahmin community is absolutely nothing. We had conducted 72 various programmes during his five year term, and though he was in Mysuru he did not take part even in a single event. He has taken the Brahmin community votes for granted, hence, we have decided to teach him a lesson by voting for congress candidate CH Vijayashankar this time”.
“There are around 2.5 lakh Brahmin voters in Mysuru constituency. We have formed 22 different teams to go to each of the Brahmins’ houses and request our community members to vote for Vijayashankar. We will ensure that not even single vote from the Brahmin community goes to Pratap Simha. We had requested state BJP President BS Yeddyurappa not to give ticket to Pratap Simha, but the party has given him the ticket. Pratap Simha speaks ill about late R Gundu Rao. Gundu Rao has contributed immensely for the welfare of the Brahmin Community,” said Nataraj Jois.
K Raghuram of Brahmin Samaja also called upon the Brahmin community members not to vote for Pratap Simha, and requested the community to vote for Vijayashankar.
