Mysuru: BY Vijayendra, son of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, said that the state exchequer has dried up completely.

On one hand, the state is reeling from widespread damages that were caused by the floods and on the other hand, flood-affected victims are yet to be compensated for the damages incurred. At this point in time, the Chief Minister’s son has reiterated that the state treasury is empty.

He was in Mysuru’s Varuna constituency on Friday, October 4 morning, when he told the reporters that his father’s hands were tied as there was no money left in the state exchequer.

Earlier, the CM himself had spoken about the plight of the state’s exchequer in Belagavi on Thursday, October 3. Yediyurappa said that the state had gone bankrupt and that it was no longer possible to carry out flood-relief works.

“The coalition government looted the state’s treasury in broad daylight and yet, the BJP government has managed to accumulate and spend Rs 1,500 crores for flood relief. The centre may release funds at the earliest,” Vijayendra said.

Responding to allegations that he had been interfering in administrative matters of the state, despite not holding any position within the state government, Vijayendra said that all these issues were being cooked up because there were no real issues over which the opposition could pull up BSY.

“They feel that such talk about me will affect BSY and the government. I hold a responsible post in the party’s Youth Wing and I work only within that jurisdiction. I have never interfered in administrative issues,” he clarified.
