Mysuru: In what seems to be a very interesting love story, a woman convict who fell in love with a fellow prisoner and eventually married him (while on parole) and bore his child, eagerly waits for the release of her husband from prison, as she herself was freed from Mysuru central jail on the occasion of Republic Day, on account of good conduct.
Revathi (30) hailing from Chennai who was imprisoned in connection with a crime committed 14 years ago was released along with her 9-month-old baby Mukti.
It is said that she met her now husband, Anburaj, while in prison and both of them hit off leading to their wedding and a child thereafter. Now that she is out of jail she has said that she eagerly waits for him to be released so that they can be united again.
Background of arrest
When Revathi was 14, she was taken to Bengaluru as a maid. During that time there was a conspiracy to sell her to a broker in Mumbai. She opposed this and a verbal fight took place. She got injured after she was attacked with a knife. Enraged with this she stabbed the owner of the house with the same knife killing her on the spot. Thus Revathi was given life imprisonment.
When Anburaj was in a forest to graze his sheep he was abducted by Veerappan and team. Anburaj later in 1998 surrendered to Veerappan and was thus the 6th accused. Anburaj was a minor during the time. Despite being minor he was awarded life imprisonment.
Revathi and Anburaj who were sent to Mysuru central jail got selected to the drama team formed inside the jail in 2008. They fell in love during that time and informed their parents about it. They got parole in 2011 and married in their native place after their parents agreed.
Even though Revathi has been released on good conduct, Anburaj's release is pending due to a legal hurdle under the TADA Act. However, Revathi is hopeful that soon all will be well and he will united with her again.
