Mysuru: All the 2,921 polling booths across the district will be installed with first aid kits in case there is a requirement of medical assistance for voters and for those who are on polling duty. Five beds have been reserved in each taluk hospitals of the district to treat patients in case of any emergencies during the election. An ambulance is allocated for every six polling booths as a precautionary measure.
Medicines for fever, cold and allergy, antiseptic band-aids and ORS packets are supplied to all the booths. Hospital staff including doctors and nurses are instructed not to take leaves a day before the election, on the election day and on the day of the election result.
District Health Officer, Dr. Venkatesh said “As a precautionary measure we have supplied medicines, band-aids and oral rehydration solutions. All the PHCs and CHCs will be on duty on the day of the election as we have not given leave to any of the medical staff”.
“All measures have been taken for providing timely medical care in case of any emergencies. We have also instructed KR Hospital health authorities to reserve separate ward to handle emergency cases” added Dr. Venkatesh. Reputed private multispecialty hospitals are also instructed to reserve few beds during the election.
Across the district there are 18.5 lakh electorates and around 12,000 employees on election duty.
