Mysuru: The District administration has ordered the closure of 16 private Covid Care Centres (CCC) across the district following complaints of inadequate treatment. Three days back Krishnaraja Nagar MLA S.A. Ramadas along with health officers inspected CCCs run by private hospitals and found irregularities.
During an inspection, many CCCs were found treating patients without PPE kits. Few private hospitals were found collecting money from patients for treatment.
Ramdas called an emergency meeting and instructed to issue a notice to erring private hospitals. After serving notice DHO Dr. Amarnath has ordered the closure of 16 CCCs. But the order of DHO was opposed by JDS Krishnaraja nagara MLA SR Mahesh who criticized the action.
Replying to the criticism, Ramdas alleged that he with PPE kits inspected 16 CCCs, found irregularities. He said that he working as an advisor to the district in-charge minister and not for personal gain. He said that despite many requests, the private hospitals did not update SOP. Moreover, the figures provided by hospital authorities did not tally with war room numbers. The numbers provided by them are almost double.
He said, “we aim to convey government facilities to the poors, which should not be misused by private hospitals.” He alleged that private hospitals are running CCCs make money only.
A hotel gave its first floor to the hospital to run CCC, second and third floors were also rented to other hospitals. But the building has a single lift that would cause the spread of disease.
He said that no CCCs were closed in the district so far nor has any patient been sent back without treatment.
