Mysuru: It looks like the political instability and pressure tactics adopted by the MLAs is beginning to affect the state bureaucracy badly. The latest in this is melodrama was the transfer of Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar.
On Thursday noon, the state government issued an order transferring DC Abhiram G Sankar as the new additional commissioner (enforcement), department of commercial taxes. He was replaced with Nitish Patil.
However, later that evening, the transfer order was cancelled and Abhiram Sankar was asked to continue as the Mysuru district DC.
According to sources, a section of the BJP’s MLAs expressed their anguish over the transfer of Abhiram to minister R Ashoka, who was in Mysuru city at the time. Fearing a backlash, he convinced Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to withdraw the transfer order.
